The Tap Tavern in Kinsale, Ireland: A Classic Irish Pub

Irish pubs are legendary, but truly original ones are becoming harder and harder to find. The Tap Tavern in Kinsale, County Cork, has been owned by the same family since 1886, and is one of the best examples of a classic Irish “local” around. Mary O’Neill has been in charge since 1974, and started pulling pints of Murphy’s and Guinness at The Tap when she was just a young girl. Today, her son Brian manages most of the pub’s affairs, but Mary is still behind the bar most every day.
