Writers' Tears Cognac Cask Finish. Photo ©2019, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This Irish Whiskey is a blend of single malt and Ireland’s own Single Pot Still style of whiskey made using both malted and unsalted barley, and is finished in Deau XO Cognac casks. The nose has notes of ripe tree fruits, red grapes, hints of dried flowers, toffee, and soft spices. The taste is syrupy-thick with a nice touch of white pepper spiciness balanced by tree fruits, a hint of raspberries, and red grapes. The finish is long and fruity with a subtle spiciness. Very nice.
