Westland 2021 Peat Week Cask #438. Image courtesy Westland Distillery. This is one of two 2021 Peat Week releases from Westland, but unlike Cask #6732, this one spent its entire 89 months of maturation in a first-fill ex-Bourbon barrel. The nose has a good peaty character with a medicinal touch and hints of milk chocolate, dried flowers, and citrus. The taste has oak tannins and campfire smoke along with grilled pineapple and hints of brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla. The finish is long and well-balanced with hints of campfire smoke and spices.
