Tullamore D.E.W. 18 Irish Single Malt. Image courtesy William Grant & Sons. This Irish single malt was originally distilled at Bushmills, and was finished in a combination of Port, Madeira, Oloroso Sherry, and Bourbon casks. The nose is rich and malty with cooked fruit notes of peaches, pears, and plums, along with caramel apples, muted spices, and a touch of oak. The taste starts off smooth and sweet with a good gradual buildup of cinnamon and ginger spices balanced by red apples, vanilla, shortbread cookies, and a hint of honey. The finish is long, smooth, malty, and gentle. Very nice! (March, 2016)
