The Lost Distillery Towiemore Blended Malt. Image courtesy The Lost Distillery Company. This is the Lost Distillery Company’s attempt to recreate the single malt whisky from the old Towiemore Distillery, which operated in Speyside from 1898 to 1931, using whiskies from multiple distilleries. The nose has notes of tropical fruits, with pineapple, mango, and orange peel along with muted spices, vanilla, and a touch of honey. The taste has dried fruits, black pepper, a hint of anise, butterscotch, and a slightly oily mouthfeel with a hint of licorice. The finish has lingering notes of anise and licorice. (October, 2017)
