This 2020 release is a tie-in with the third film in the Kingsman series, “The King’s Man,” and was created by GlenDronach’s Rachel Barrie in a collaboration with film director Matthew Vaughn. It’s a 29-year-old single malt originally matured in Oloroso Sherry casks with a final bit of time in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, and the nose has notes of Christmas cake, figs, dates, plums, a touch of nuttiness and a hint of leather. The taste has a thick, oily texture with figs, dates, hints of ginger and allspice, raisins, and cocoa powder in excellent balance. Adding a few drops of water opens up hints of molasses, dried tobacco, and berries. The finish is long and subtle with lingering touches of figs, dates, berries, and a hint of spice.
