South Australia’s Tin Shed Distillery bottles its single malts under the Iniquity brand name, and this is their first independent bottling for That Boutique-y Whisky Company. It’s a 3-year-old single malt, and the nose has notes of figs, dates, toffee, marzipan, and a hint of molasses. The taste starts off gentle at first, followed by a burst of flavor as baking spices and dark fruits collide head-on…then fade gently to a soft, dry finish. Adding water brings out more richness and complexity, taming the spices and opening up a nice fruity character. (April, 2021)
