Riverbourne Distillery is located in Jingera, New South Wales, and is run by the husband-and-wife team of Martin and Eileen Pye. This single cask bottling from That Boutique-y Whisky Company of their 3-year-old single malt is the first time their whiskies have been available outside of Australia. The nose is malty with touches of dried fruits, butterscotch, a soft oakiness, honey, and vanilla. The taste is chewy, thick, and spicy with intense notes of clove and cinnamon balanced by cooked fruits, a touch of butterscotch, vanilla, and oak tannins. Adding water brings out a touch of cocoa powder on the palate and calms down the spices somewhat. The finish is long and well-balanced. Nice! (April, 2021)
