Country: Australia

Region: Tasmania

Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: That Boutique-y Whisky Company/Atom Brands

ABV: 49.8%

Score: 93 Points

This is the only Rye whiskey in That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s debut Australian Series release, and it fits right in with Belgrove founder/distiller Peter Bignell’s trademark individualism. The Tasmanian farmer/distiller built his own still and equipment by hand, while growing his own grain and fueling the distillery with oil from a nearby chip shop. The nose on this 4-year-old Tasmanian Rye has notes of straw, lemon zest, linseed oil, and a hint of honey. The taste has a combination of lemon pepper, allspice, and cinnamon spices balanced by honey, straw, linseed oil, and a hint of garden herbs. The finish is long and well-balanced between lingering spices and a lemony tartness. Excellent! (April, 2021)
