Single Cask Nation Invergordon 1974 Single Grain Scotch Whisky. Image courtesy Single Cask Nation. One of the oldest bottlings ever from Single Cask Nation, this single ex-Bourbon barrel was filled at Invergordon in 1974. The nose has a nice oakiness along with notes of caramel, gentle spices, cocoa powder, and a hint of espresso. The taste is full of vanilla, toasted caramel, allspice, and touches of cocoa powder, espresso, and dried fruits. The finish is long and rich with lingering spices, dark chocolate, and a touch of oak. This is a prime example of just how good vintage single grain whiskies can be. (December, 2020)
