Shibui 10 Year Single Grain Virgin Oak. Image courtesy Shibui Whisky/IND Beverages. This Shibui expression was distilled from rice at the Masahiro Distillery on Okinawa and matured in Virgin Oak casks. The nose has notes of butterscotch, linseed oil, grilled pineapple, banana cream pie, and hints of jasmine and dried flowers. The taste has a thick, mouth-coating texture and is slightly astringent with touches of toasted caramel, oak tannins, dark honey, dried flowers, and nice spices. The finish is long, well-balanced, and complex with good spices and a fruity character. (June, 2021)
