Country: Canada

Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 42%

Score: 92 Points

Alberta Distillers created this rye whiskey in honor of George Reifel, the distillery’s first master distiller when it opened in 1946. It’s a blend of 91% pot still rye, 6% Old Grand-Dad Bourbon, and 3% Oloroso Sherry, and the nose has rye spices complemented by sherry-led touches of figs, dates, and toffee with just a touch of brown sugar. The taste is thick and spicy with clove, cinnamon, figs and dates underneath, with a slightly dry mouthfeel. The finish is long and dry. (November, 2022)
