This is the first release in the Iberian Series of Redbreast whiskies highlighting Redbreast’s historic connection with the winemakers of Spain and Portugal. It’s finished in Pedro Ximenez hogsheads from Jerez, and the nose is fruity with touches of figs, dates, plums, muted spices, and hints of raisins and roasted cashews. The taste is nectar-thick with baking spices, honey, figs, dates, raisins, and toasted oak, while the finish is long with gentle spices balanced nicely by lingering touches of dark fruits. Nice!
