Port Askaig 45. Image courtesy Speciality Drinks, Ltd. This single malt comes from an undisclosed Islay distillery said to be close to the village of Port Askaig, and was distilled on January 1, 1968 and filled into five ex-Sherry butts.

The nose has notes of freshly-baked bread with butter, mild spices, a light pettiness, heather, and honey. The taste is smooth and rich with gentle spices, hints of clove, peat, heather, raisins, and plums. The finish is long and delicate with a kiss of smoke and a touch of spices. Wow! (September, 2015)
