Penderyn Icons of Wales Dylan. Image courtesy The Welsh Whisky Company. This single malt is the third in Penderyn’s Icons of Wales series honoring key moments and figures in Welsh history, and honors the legendary Welsh writer Dylan Thomas. The whisky was matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, with a final maturation in ex-Sherry casks.

The nose has a good mix of spices and fruit, with hints of clove, cardamom, nutmeg, fresh berries, heather, and a hint of grass. The taste is rich and fruity with fresh berries and green apples at first, followed by a spicy burst of clove and cardamom with touches of vanilla and caramel candy in the background. The finish is dry, slightly tart, and lingering with subtle spices. Very nice! (October, 2014)
