This is the first Parker’s Heritage Collection edition to be released after the death of longtime Heaven Hill master distiller Parker Beam in early 2017 following a long battle with ALS. As with previous editions, a portion of the proceeds from each bottle will be donated to the ALS Association. The 2017 edition is an 11-year-old single barrel Bourbon using 122 barrels selected from some of Parker Beam’s favorite warehouses in Deatsville, Kentucky.
The nose is spicy with black peppercorns, cinnamon, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, honey, and charred oak. The taste is thick and chewy with great spices and a dry, astringent mouthfeel. Cinnamon and black pepper spices are balanced well by honey, vanilla, brown sugar, molasses, and a hint of smoke. The finish is long and dry with lingering spices reminiscent of dry rub barbecue. Excellent! (August, 2017)
