Old Pulteney Flotilla 2005 Vintage. Image courtesy Old Pulteney. This is the third vintage release in Old Pulteney’s Flotilla series, with 12,000 bottles available only in France. It was matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, and the nose has a hint of brine, along with roasted almonds, vanilla, and a hint of charred oak. The taste is spicy, briny, and tart with a good balance of all three and notes of ginger, banana, cinnamon, coconut, honey, vanilla, and lemon zest. The finish is long with a good balance of spice and tartness and just a lingering hint of brine. (September, 2015)
