Old Pulteney 25. Image courtesy Inver House/International Beverage. This single malt spent 22 years in ex-Bourbon barrels, then was finished for three years in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. The nose is thick and heavy with notes of clove, toffee, dark chocolate, touches of rum, honey, and brown sugar, and a hint of orange peel. The taste is thick, spicy, and citrusy with touches of clove, cardamom, lemon zest, orange peel, mango, coconut, and hints of dark chocolate and toffee. The finish fades away gently with touches of cedar shavings, Christmas cake, and subtle spices. (September, 2017)
