Midleton Very Rare 2017 Edition. Image courtesy Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard. This edition has some of the oldest whiskies ever used in a Midleton Very Rare release, with some of the casks ranging up to 32 years old. The nose is aromatic with dried flowers, vanilla custard, orange peel, nutmeg, white pepper, and a hint of oak. The taste is spicy with notes of clove, cardamom, licorice, and ginger that fade slowly to reveal green apples, a hint of honey, vanilla, and dried flowers. The finish is very long with gently fading spices and dried fruits. Excellent! (October, 2017)
