Country: Ireland

Region:

Type: Irish Whiskey

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 46%

Score: 93 Points

This limited-edition Method & Madness whiskey comes from the microdistillery at Midleton, and uses a mashbill of 60% rye and 40% malted barley. It’s 6 years old, and the U.S. edition differs from an earlier Ireland-only release in that it was triple-distilled while the Irish version was only distilled twice. The nose has notes of cereal, star anise, candied orange, and caramel. The taste has a honey sweetness with slowly building spicy notes of cinnamon and white pepper balanced by chocolate and toasted oak. The finish is dry and minty with a touch of menthol.
