Method and Madness Single Grain Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard. This Irish single grain from Midleton started off in ex-Bourbon casks, then was finished in virgin Spanish Oak casks. The nose is sweet and floral with subtle spices, sawdust, freshly cut grass, and hints of butterscotch and citrus. The taste has a good balance of cinnamon spice, dried flowers, a nice oakiness, and hints of licorice and butterscotch. The finish is long and slightly tart with lingering spices and a hint of lemon zest. Very nice! (March, 2017)
