Mackmyra Midvinter Single Malt Whisky. Image courtesy Mackmyra Distillery. This Swedish single malt is part of Mackmyra’s seasonal range of whiskies, and uses a combination of Bordeaux, Sherry, and Glühwine wine casks. The nose is complex with a Christmas potpourri of spices, gingerbread, honey, vanilla, and a touch of red grapes. The taste has a good balance of spiciness and fruity notes with cinnamon, clove, fresh berries, gingerbread, and vanilla. The finish is long, dry, and fruity with subtle notes of fresh berries and cooked banana. (October, 2014)
