John Drew Rye Whisky. Image courtesy John Drew Brands. This rye comes from an undisclosed distillery in Alberta, and the nose is clean and aromatic with soft spices and notes of vanilla, honey, and oak. The taste is spicy with clove, black pepper, licorice, caramel candy, vanilla, oak, a hint of linseed oil, and a thick, chewy mouthfeel. The finish is long with lingering spices, honey, and a hint of orange peel. A very nice debut. (May, 2016)
