J.J. Corry "The Flintlock." Image courtesy Chapel Gate Whiskey Company. This Irish single malt blended and bottled by the Chapel Gate Whiskey Company comes from three 16-year-old casks of Bushmills single malt. The nose is sweet and floral with notes of freshly-cut grass, a hint of lemon zest, soft spices, and a malty touch of barley sugar. The taste is malty and honey-sweet at first, followed by a good burst of allspice and ginger root spices balanced by lemon zest and a hint of vanilla. The finish is long with spicy touches that last and last without overpowering the sweeter notes underneath. Very nice! (October, 2018)
