Sangelstain is a rocky spot on Sweden’s Gotland Island said to have mythical powers, and lends its name to the 10th single malt release for Gotland Whisky’s Isle of Lime. It was matured in a variety of first-fill ex-Bourbon, Sherry, Hungarian Oak, and virgin American Oak casks for between 4 years and 6 years 10 months. The nose is aromatic with notes of sandalwood, oak, baked apples, baking spices, and berry cobbler. The taste has a nice balance of red apples, berries, baking spices, sandalwood, and barley sugar. The finish is ling with a nice balance of subtle spices, fruits, and berries. Very nice! (July, 2021)
