Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish. Image courtesy Loch Lomond Distillers. This single malt was distilled at Loch Lomond, and gets its name from one of the islands in the loch. It’s first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in Madeira wine casks, and carries no age statement. The nose is aromatic and fruity with peaches, pears, baked apples, caramel, fudge, and hints of nutmeg and almond oil. The taste is nutty and dry with roasted almonds, peach pie, nutmeg, a touch of clove, marzipan, and a nice oakiness. The finish is long and dry with lingering touches of almonds, clove, and dried fruits. (January, 2017)
