This 5-year-old single grain Scotch Whisky comes from Fife’s Inchdairnie Distillery, and is made with a mash bill of 53% rye and 47% malted barley. The nose has subtle spices, sandalwood, blackberries, vanilla, and dried flowers. The taste is thick and well-rounded, with notes of baking spices, vanilla, sandalwood, licorice, caramel candy, and blackberries. A few drops of water increases the complexity by building up the spices and vanilla. The finish is long and spicy, but in a more subtle way that most North American rye whiskies.
