High West High Country American Single Malt. Image courtesy High West Distillery. This is a limited-edition American Single Malt only available for now at High West’s distillery shops in Park City and Wanship, Utah, though there are plans to release it more widely in the future. It’s a 2-year-old whisky made with three different malt mashbills of varying peat and roast levels, while the maturation comes from a combination of virgin Oak, ex-Bourbon and Rye barrels, and Port wine casks.

The nose is woody with hints of mesquite seasoning and oak, toasted vanilla, and butterscotch. The taste is well-rounded with barrel sugar maltiness, subtle touches of clove and white pepper, vanilla, and a soft oakiness. The finish is long and smooth with lingering spices, vanilla, and touches of oak, mesquite, and campfire smoke. (February, 2020)
