Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Another one of the three initial Heaven’s Door whiskies produced in a collaboration between Bob Dylan and the Spirits Investment Partnership’s team of whisky makers, Double Barrel blends three different styles of whiskies from Tennessee and finishes them for a year in new toasted oak barrels.
The nose has a good oakiness with notes of pipe tobacco, honey, brown sugar, vanilla, cocoa, and a hint of leather. The taste is well-rounded and mouth-filling with caramel, fudge, and honey notes at first, followed by spicy touches of clove, black pepper and nutmeg. A hint of pipe tobacco comes out leading into the finish, which is long and smooth with that pipe tobacco sweetness, caramel, cocoa, and lingering spices. (May, 2018)
