Heaven’s Door releases its annual Bootleg Series bottling each year featuring one of co-founder Bob Dylan’s paintings on the bottle. The 2021 edition of the Bootleg Series is a 13-year-old Kentucky Bourbon finished in Vino de Naranja wine casks and bottled at cask strength. The nose is very dry and subtle with hints of chocolate-covered orange slices, honey, molasses, and oak. The taste is thick and chewy with subtle touches of orange peel, clove, cinnamon, and black pepper, while molasses and oak add balance in the background. Adding water opens up subtle fruity touches on the palate as well. The finish is long and dry with oak and subtle spices. Very nice! (December, 2021)
