Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This six-year-old Bourbon is one you’ll have to travel to Kentucky to find, since it’s not sold anywhere outside the Bluegrass State. It’s well worth the trip, though!
The nose has those classic Bourbon notes of caramel, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, gentle spices, and a hint of dark chocolate. The taste starts off sweet and gentle at first, but be prepared for a blast of black pepper and chili powder spices that sticks to your tongue and holds on for dear life. The spices eventually fade to let caramel, honey, and brown sugar notes come back to lead the extremely long finish with lingering hints of spice in the background. You should be able to find this for under $20 a bottle, making it one of the best bargains left on the Bourbon shelf! (May, 2018)
