Photo ©2015 by Mark Gillespie. What’s left of Convalmore Distillery can be found along the hiking trail leading from Dufftown toward Craigellachie next to Glenfiddich along the railroad line, and of course, in the few remaining bottlings of Convalmore single malt that are still available. This one was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 1998, and the nose is honeyed and floral with notes of peaches, malt, and a subtle buttery touch. The taste is honey-smooth at first, then turns tart with lemon pepper spiciness and hints of banana, coconut, and vanilla. The finish is long and smooth with a touch of lemon custard. (November, 2015)
