Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This is the 2016 bottling in Glenmorangie’s annual Private Edition series, and was finished in Portuguese wine casks that were re-toasted while still soaked with wine, which allowed the sugars in the liquid to caramelize into the wood and add more sweetness to the final whisky. The result is a single malt with a nose reminiscent of cotton candy, candied oranges, a hint of orange sherbet, custard, dried fruits, and subtle spices in the background. The taste has notes of plums, nectarines, peaches, orange sherbet, lemon zest, ginger root, chocolate-covered cherries, and hints of coconut and pipe tobacco in the background. The finish is long, fruity, and sweet. (February, 2016)
