Glenfiddich Vintage Cask. Image courtesy Glenfiddich/William Grant & Sons. This single malt carries no age statement and is part of Glenfiddich’s Cask Collection travel retail series. Most of all, it’s a rare peated version of Glenfiddich…something not seen in many years.

The nose has a light peatiness with notes of honey, straw, coconut cream pie, creme brûlée, pecans, caramel candy, and fudge. The taste is complex, spicy, and smoky with tangy barbecue pork ribs, bacon, coconut, and vanilla. The finish has a lingering smokiness, and is astringent with a dry rub barbecue flavor and aroma. Very interesting and unusual. (October, 2014)
