This 7-year-old Irish single malt is finished for four months in a combination of new and used Mizunara oak casks from Japan, and joins the previously released 13 and 17-year-old Glendalough Mizunara cask expressions. The nose has a good balance of tropical fruits and flowers, with touches of mango, pineapple, coconut, and sandalwood. The taste starts off fruity, followed by a burst of cinnamon, incense, and dark chocolate. There’s a nice maltiness with touches of candied oranges, sandalwood, and almond oil in the background as well. The finish is very long with lingering hints of spices, crystallized ginger, and dark chocolate. Excellent! (February, 2022)
