This single barrel selected by Frey Ranch’s Ashley and Colby Frey has a subtle, aromatic nose with touches of black cherries, cake frosting, marzipan, powdered sugar, spearmint, and dried grass. The taste is mouth-puckeringly dry with baking spices that last and last, along with honey, vanilla, and hints of garden herbs and cocoa powder that come out as the spices fade. Adding a few drops of water brings out more complexity on the palate with dried fruits and floral notes. The finish is long and complex with dry spices that linger nicely. Excellent!
