Compass Box’s John Glaser took his inspiration for Ultramarine from what he describes as a iconic luxury blend’s early bottlings from the late 1980’s and early 1990’s (if you’re thinking Johnnie Walker Blue Label, you’re in the ballpark). The nose is light and floral with touches of freshly cut grass, honey, vanilla, and a hint of citrus. The taste is fruity and floral with grapefruit, melons, a touch of white pepper, and honey. The finish is long with a touch of crisp green apples and a lingering hint of grapefruit. A very complex dram. (October, 2022)
