Compass Box Peat Monster Arcana

Country: Scotland

Region:

Type: Blended Malt

Bottler: Compass Box

ABV: 46%

Score: 94 Points

Compass Box Peat Monster Arcana Scotch Whisky. Image courtesy Compass Box. One of the 20th anniversary releases from Compass Box, with malt whiskies from Talisker, Miltonduff, and Ardbeg and a batch of the standard Peat Monster finished in French Oak casks previously used for another Compass Box release. The nose has smoky heather with a slightly phenolic character and a hint of creosote balanced by hints of honey and dried fruits underneath. The taste starts off with a honey sweetness followed by a burst of peat smoke, creosote, and iodine with hints of dried heather and grilled fruits in the background. The finish is long with a nice smokiness that compares with the best of Islay’s single malts. Excellent! (October, 2020)
