Compass Box Enlightenment. Image courtesy Compass Box. This blended malt uses whiskies from Mortlach, Glentauchers, Balblair, and Clynelish, and the nose is smooth with notes of red apples, pears, hints of peaches and pineapple, soft spices, and a mild touch of oak. The taste is equally smooth and well-balanced with a nice spiciness courtesy of clove, white pepper, and cinnamon notes, along with touches of pineapple and grapefruit in the background. Red apple, honey, and vanilla notes bring it all together. The finish has red apple notes, subtle lingering spices, and a hint of citrus. Excellent! (May, 2016)
