Photo ©2018, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media.Clonakilty’s own distillery in Cork, Ireland opened in December of 2018, and its own whiskey won’t be ready to bottle for several years. This is a blend of sourced 8-year-old grain and 10-year-old malt whiskies finished in Port casks for three months. The nose has notes of dried fruits, raisins, toffee, subtle spices, and a hint of black cherries. The taste is thick and fruity with a nice spicy bite of clove and allspice, along with a hint of toffee in the background. The finish is long, complex, and well-balanced. Nice! (December, 2018)
