Charbay Doubled & Twisted Lot No. 2. Photo ©2020, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. Doubled & Twisted is Charbay’s blend of its straight malt whiskey and its hop-flavored whiskey, and the nose has a good balance of malt, honey, hints of hops and ginger, and a touch of dried fruits. The taste is lemony and tart with notes of hops, ginger root, honey, vanilla, and hints of spice that build up slowly in the background but never overwhelm the palate. The finish is long and gentle with subtle spices underneath notes of oak and citrusy tartness. (January, 2020)
