Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2010. Image courtesy Bruichladdich. This 8-year-old Islay single malt was distilled in 2011 from Bere barley grown in the Orkney Islands in 2010 and matured in ex-Bourbon casks. The nose is malty and sweet with good fruity notes of peaches, toffee, chocolate fudge, and a hint of coconut cream. The taste is thick and oily with a good balance of oak, peaches, barley sugar, and touches of honey and chocolate. The finish has lingering fruity notes of peaches and apples, along with hints of oak, barley sugar, and chocolate. Excellent complexity and character! (April, 2020)
