Box Whisky 2nd Step Collection #02

This is the second release in Box Whisky’s “2nd Step” collection, and reflects a new stage in the Swedish distillery’s evolution. It’s a blend of ex-Oloroso Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks, and the nose is full of vanilla, fresh berries, peaches, muted spices, and just a hint of chocolate. The taste is fruity and vibrant, but with a solid base of spicy notes. Cinnamon and ginger balance the fruity notes of peaches, red apples, and fresh berries, and there’s just a hint of smoked salmon in the background that pulls things together. The finish is long with lingering spices and fresh fruits. Excellent! (August, 2016)
