Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-2 "Shiny Barrel Batch." Image courtesy Beam Suntory. This batch of Booker’s gets its name from the days when rickhouse workers might illicitly sneak some whiskey from the barrels, but in doing so, they’d rub off the dust that accumulates over time. Booker Noe knew which barrels his crew had been tapping because they’d be shiny instead of covered with dust.

This batch has a gentle oakiness on the nose, along with vanilla, caramel, honey, and subtle spices. Don’t let that gentleness fool you, though. The taste is thick, spicy, and intense with black pepper, chili powder, and a hint of cardamon balanced by burnt vanilla, caramel, honey, and charred oak notes. The finish is long and oaky with lingering spices and hints of vanilla and honey. Very nice! (June, 2019)
