Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: Blue Run Spirits

ABV: 58.3%

Score: 94 Points

This Rye whiskey was produced for Blue Run Spirits by Hall of Fame distiller Jim Rutledge at Castle & Key Distillery using three different mashbills. The nose is sweet with hints of butterscotch, caramel, honey, brown sugar, and subtle touches of spices and chili peppers. The taste has a nice balance of fruity character and spices with chili peppers and black pepper balanced by honey, red apples, and peaches that fade to reveal even more spices with hints of clove and baking spices. The finish is long with lingering spices and touches of leather, tobacco leaf, charred oak, and brown sugar. Very complex! (December, 2022)
