ABV: 56%

BenRiach Peated Cask Strength Batch #1. Image courtesy The BenRiach Distillery Company. This single malt comes from casks ranging between 8 and 15 years old, with a variety of Virgin Oak, ex-Sherry, and ex-Bourbon hogsheads in the mix. The nose has a well-rounded peatiness with notes of honey, vanilla, and dark chocolate fudge. The taste has a good balance between peatiness and campfire smoke with heather, honey, and vanilla. The finish is long and smoky, but not overpowering. This whisky doesn’t drink like a cask-strength single malt, and can be deceivingly drinkable! (October, 2017)
