Balblair 1999 Highland Single Malt. Photo courtesy Inver House Distillers. This is the second release of the Balblair 1999 Vintage, and is matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon barrels and Spanish Oak casks.

The nose is buttery-smooth with notes of creme brûlée, orange peel, very muted spices, and a touch of butterscotch. The taste is thick, oily, and spicy with cinnamon, orange oils, and a hint of white pepper balanced by butterscotch, brown sugar, and a hint of honey. The finish is smooth with lingering spices and citrus notes, along with a touch of butterscotch. (October, 2014)
