Balblair 12 Years Old. Image courtesy Balblair/International Beverage. This is part of Balblair’s new range of single malts with age statements instead of vintages introduced in the spring of 2019, and comes from a combination of ex-Bourbon barrels and “double-fired” American Oak casks. The nose has touches of dried orange slices, vanilla cream, subtle spices, and a hint of sawdust. The taste has a good mix of spices and citrus notes, with touches of clove, allspice, and white pepper balanced by orange peel, a hint of honey, and a touch of chocolate in the background. The finish has lingering spices and touches of orange peel and chocolate. Very nice. (June, 2o19)
