Arran 1999 "Golden Eagle." Image courtesy Isle of Arran Distillery. This 2012 release is the fourth and final bottling in Arran’s Icons series, and was matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. The nose is aromatic and oaky with notes of honey, toffee, butterscotch, nuts, and vanilla. The taste is buttery-smooth with a hint of lemon zest, crystallized ginger, white pepper, and tropical fruits. The finish is medium-length with notes of honey, peach pie, and a hint of caramel. Very nice. (June, 2018)
