anCnoc 125th Anniversary Peat. Image courtesy anCnoc/Inver House. This heavily peated (40ppm) anCnoc was released along with a 16-year-old cask-strength edition to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Knockdhu Distillery near Huntly, Scotland where anCnoc is distilled. It was finished in ex-Sherry casks, and the nose has a gentle smokiness along with toasted caramel, honey, heather, and dried flowers. The taste has a good balance of peat smoke and sweetness, with heather, honey, apple pie, and hints of toffee and orange peel. The finish is long and smooth with a gentle peatiness and touches of honey and toffee. Excellent! (January, 2020)
